The Mariner
The Mariner was formerly known as Benny Flanagan’s, and was once a very popular pub for playing pool. It was bought by the Murphy family, renovated and renamed The Mariner, a very fitting name since the river Boyne flows by its doorstep. It is situated on the North Quay in close proximity to Scotch Hall shopping centre and Millmount Tower and Museum, both very popular Drogheda tourist destinations. There is a great view from outside the pub of the Boyne Viaduct, a marvel of engineering of its time....

There is a great view from outside the pub of the Boyne Viaduct, a marvel of engineering of its time. The pub itself has a sea faring theme, on one wall there is a diving cage, inside is an antique deep sea diving suit. There is also a wonderful miniature replica sea vessel in a glass display cabinet, and a various variety of nautical furnishings. The Mariner is well known for its great food, whether you are looking for a good old traditional Irish breakfast or a nice stew dinner, it has a menu to suit everyone. It’s the perfect place to go for tea, coffee, and a plain or toasted sandwich. It also has one of the largest TV screens in Drogheda which makes The Mariner a very popular destination for all sports fans, and if you are a horse racing fan they show live horse racing, if you fancy a flutter there is a bookies right next door. They serve all the usual beers and spirits as well as some very popular local craft beers. The Mariner’s staff are polite, pleasant and very welcoming.
